01.12.2018: Today I probably did my last flight this year, unless the weather allows us to do another New Year’s Eve flight as in some of the previous years. The weather wasn’t perfect, so we decided to stay in the plains, heading towards Schaffhausen and the Rhine Falls.

From there we flew east along the southern shore of Lake Constance, where the weather looked a lot better…

…than towards the mountains.

21.12.2018: A friend from Denmark visited us for a few days, but due to the very rainy weather flying was out of the question. So instead we visited the Swiss Air Force Museum in Dübendorf, which has a large collection of many of the planes they operated during the last 100+ years.

They also have two prototypes on display.

The N-20 Aiguillon project for a swept wing fighter fitted with four jet engines was cancelled in 1952 after test flying of a scaled down twin engined prototype. It was just way ahead of it’s time, but unfortunately they cancelled the project before the first full size prototype cold be flown.

The P-16 project for a fighter-bomber was also cancelled by the Swiss Government, this time in 1958 after three prototypes had been built and flown successfully. The design was promising, so William P. Lear used it as the basis to develop the original Learjet 23.
