I have been dreaming of building an aircraft for many years. In 2006 a friend proposed to build it together, which not only made the project feasible, but also pushed me to actually start it. After an evaluation of different models we selected the CZAW SportCruiser, as it fulfilled the main requirements I had defined.

In Switzerland the building of aircraft by amateurs is regulated by FOCA, the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation. To make the building economically feasible, FOCA delegated the actual supervision of the building of such aircraft to EAS, the Experimental Aviation of Switzerland. EAS is a club whose charter is to support members in building, flying and maintaining amateur built aircraft.

One of the key elements of building aircraft by amateurs is to maintain a building log, as this is necessary to prove that an amateur built aircraft has actually been built by the respective amateur.

You can keep log of your building activities on paper, however, doing it on the internet gives other homebuilders a chance to see how someone else has built the same aircraft. This can help such builders where building instructions are not entirely clear, it might also prevent them from making mistakes which then have to be corrected.

In the interest of other builders I have therefore decided in 2006 to maintain our building log on this website. The actual log can be fouud in the “Building Log” section.

Please note that the building log, but also general information on aircraft design, test flying, operation, maintenance etc. are documented to my best knowledge, but purely for the purpose of building our own plane. They are neither recomendations from my side, nor are they guaranteed to be correct or complete in any sense.
